The Spiritless Key-a series of drabbles concerning Lethe's and Mnemosyne's backstory
Chapter 1

In his duel against III, Yuuma found his spirit and memories of Kattobing and Astral sealed away/erased. But what if there were never any memories to seal?
This Yuuma never heard that one single encouraging word from his father. He grew up frightened and depressed, withdrawing from any and all challenges. He still received the Emperor's Key from his father, but he saw it as something that reminded him of his father's disappearance and kept it locked away. All dreams of the door resulted in him refusing to open it, too scared to.
(Or did it? Somehow, some time, that door does open, releasing the Numbers into the world. But Yuuma never received Hope. Instead, he received a different Numbers, which proceeded to immediately assimilate the Original, Astral...But that is a story for another time.Because I haven't actually decided how it happens.)
